With entries now open for the 2015 National Safety Awards of
Excellence, Australian businesses are encouraged to celebrate the
heroes that contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of workers,
and the continuous improvement of safety in their business
Shaun Cumming, Alliance Manager at Barwon Water Alliance who won the
2013 Award of Excellence in WHS says “Being recognised by our
industry peers has given the entire team validation that the hard work
everyone has put into building and maintaining our strong safety
culture has been worthwhile.”
“Winning an award such as this is humbling but we have used it as
motivation to drive further safety initiatives because we understand
too well that complacency is an ever present danger in every
workplace” said Shaun.
Becoming a finalist or winner in the Awards is an excellent motivator
for a business and its workers. The accomplishment recognises the
great work achieved by a team and also motivates everyone to keep
striving to do more and keep developing innovative ideas and
Jamie Burrage, NSCA Foundation General Manager advocates “All
Australian business to share your safety success, regardless of
whether your safety initiative is big or small – if it’s making a
positive different to workplace safety and culture, we want to hear
about it”. He continues to say “It is also a great opportunity for
a health check on your organisation’s safety standards.”
Now in its 23rd year, Australia’s most prestigious safety awards
program continues to celebrate the heroes that contribute to the
health, safety and wellbeing of workers and the continuous improvement
of safety as a business priority.
