  • Becomes first centre in the world to combine Sleep Medicine with Dental sleep medicine, TMJ Disorders and Craniofacial Pain; that are all highly linked to Sleep Apnoea.
  • Also becomes first centre in the UAE to diagnose and treat children with Sleep Apnoea.

After recording almost 64% of their patient case-studies positive for Sleep Apnoea or Upper Airways Resistance Syndrome (UARS), a sleep disorder characterized by airway resistance to breathing during sleep; The London Sleep Centre Dubai, the only fully integrated Sleep Diagnostic and Treatment Facility in the GCC Region, has accelerated its efforts to bring about more awareness on Sleep Apnoea and related high-risk factors.

In an attempt to bring about awareness on Sleep Apnoea and the necessity to initiate timely treatment, The London Sleep (Free-Pr-Online.com) Centre revealed that individuals with poorly managed OSAS (Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Syndrome) that is prevalent among many UAE adults, are at increased risk for heart attack, stroke, weight gain, high blood pressure, heart failure and falling asleep while driving. Sleep Apnoea can also be disruptive to one’s everyday activities causing depression, irritability and daytime fatigue.

“We are a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment centre well equipped to perform sleep studies on patients with suspected sleep disorders, our detailed PSG studies are able to pick up even the most subtle of sleep breathing disorders which can unknowingly cause significant sleep disruption. We are equipped with the latest technology to perform a 3D CBCT scan of the upper airway that pinpoints the problem areas and offers alternative effective treatments to CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy) including custom made, FDA approved oral appliances which combine advancing the lower jaw, keeping the tongue forward and preventing nasal valve collapse and bruxism all at the same time.” said Dr. Irshaad Ebrahim (Specialist Neuropsychiatrist, Sleep Physician and Medical Director; The London Sleep Centre, Dubai)

Highlighting symptoms to look out for, Dr. Ebrahim also mentioned that grinding teeth at night (bruxism) and waking with jaw or face pain can be the result of breathing problems during sleep. Noisy breathing/snoring in children is a significant factor to indicate breathing problems during sleep which can impact on sleep quality and development; while, untreated sleep Apnoea in both children and adults lead to and contribute towards significant health issues.

Being the first centre in the UAE to diagnose and treat Sleep Apnoea amongst children, the centre offers a distinctive combination of a sleep study and CBCT scan (which is extremely low in radiation and safe for young children) that allows experts in paediatric sleep disordered breathing to identify the exact problem areas. Through orthopaedic development techniques (using orthodontic techniques) The London Sleep Centre is armed with the ability to cure Sleep Apnoea without the need for surgery or CPAP, which is highly discouraged when treating children.

Having laid a strong groundwork and clinical pathway to guide the UAE into benefiting results from world-renowned Sleep Apnoea treatments; the State-of-Art Sleep Clinic is located in Dubai Healthcare City and provides a Centre of Excellence approach to the diagnosis and treatment of other Sleep Disorders as well, including Dental Sleep Medicine, TMJ (Temporomandibular) Disorders and Craniofacial Pain.
